Yankee Candle Factory in Deerfield, MA

As I had mentioned in the last post, my main trip before finding Poet's Seat Tower was Yankee Candle Factory. It is on 63 North in Deerfield, MA. I had never been to this place before, and I had been holding off on buying the candles I wanted at a regular retail shop. So worth it. The prices are much more affordable.

Poet's Seat Tower in Greenfield, MA

 Built in 1912

Coming across this tower was a total accident, and a great one at that. Jay and I were coming home from Yankee Candle Factory in Deerfield, MA and decided to take back roads to see what we could find.

Tully Trail and Royalston Falls Part 1

Tully Trail is normally a 22 mile loop hike (trail map here), but on this past Sunday we kind of were just there to see The Royalston Falls. This is just one of three that I know of so far (Doanes, Spirit, and Royalston) and all located in Royalston, MA.

A Summer of Trees

All last year I really wanted to go hiking, but I found myself never having the time. This year is much different. My boyfriend Jay has just started to get into hiking as well and it makes trips much more easier to go on. Both of us are pushing to get more physically active, and it's a great bonding experience. Jay and I are preparing to go on the Appalachian Trail together in April of 2012, so we need to go hiking as much as possible.

As we searched for trails across New England, we have found that back roads take you to the strangest towns with other fun ideas for day trips. The more I explore even just Massachusetts, I realize I barely even know my own state or the treasures that reside there.

So this blog is going to be about the random finds and trails that are within New England. I may even do some "out of New England" specials. So please read, enjoy, and try these places for yourself as well!
